The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

We are awaiting a new air conditioner for the bus.  We still have some finishing touches that may or may not be done before our first trip, including some exterior flair for our skoolie named Green Pastures.  The name is based on Psalm 23:2, “He makes me lie down in green pastures.”  This season is truly one ordained by God, as He has made it very clear that He wants us stepping back from some of our responsibilities to practice sabbath and spend time together as a family.  I may share more on this at a later time, but for now, we focus on the fun of the adventures that await.

As soon as the skoolie is returned from the repair shop, we will pack up all our supplies in preparation to set sail on Saturday, June 30th for a few weeks in the northeast United States.  Our first destination is the town I grew up in, Montrose, Pennsylvania, to celebrate my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.  My brother and sister each have five kids, so we’ll be sleeping in Green Pastures, as we don’t all fit in the house!  After a few days with family in Pennsylvania, we’ll head to Massachusetts to explore the Boston area (where my dad is from) and then up to the coastal area of Maine to explore Acadia National Park.  Then, over to Vermont and a stop somewhere in upstate New York on the way home.   We’ll be back in time to make final preparations for the Urban Light Block Party and celebrate our community with our neighbors on July 27th!

Follow this blog for fun photos and videos, as well as serious thoughts along the journey.  We expect our days traveling in Green Pastures will be filled with joy and retreat, as well as discussion, thought, and visioning.  We look forward to sharing the journey with you!
